Movies in the O-8

So, I was looking at the future releases and got really excited. Its looking like movies are making a comeback.

With January kicking it off with the much debated Cloverfield, 2008 is promising fun times at the theater. Here's a rundown of my top picks, so far:

Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins

One word - Martin

Plot - A successful talk show host leaves Los Angeles to reunite with his family in the Deep South.

Plot - A new clue to the whereabouts of a lost treasure rekindles a married couple's sense of adventure -- and their estranged romance.

Jumper

One Word - Neo-X men

Plot - A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between "Jumpers" and those who have sworn to kill them.

Charlie Bartlett

One Word - Neo-Ferris Bueller

Plot - A rich kid (Yelchin) becomes the self-appointed psychiatrist to the student body of his new high school.

Be Kind Rewind

One Word - Blockbuster

Plot - A man (Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend's video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films.

Notable Cast - Jack Black (Nacho Libre), Mos Def (16 Blocks), Arjay Smith (numerous Tv guest appearances) Danny Glover (Color Purple)



Penelope

One Word - Kermit

Plot - A modern romantic tale about a young aristocratic heiress born under a curse that can only be broken when she finds true love with "one who will love her faithfully."

Notable Cast - Christina Ricci (Black Snake Moan), Reese Witherspoon (Cruel Intentions), James McAvoy (Narina)
